Privacy policy
What we collect when you use UNLOOK, or call a business it answers the phone for, why we collect it, who helps us run the service, and how to have your information changed or deleted. In plain words.

Who we are
UNLOOK is an AI receptionist for business websites. When this policy says “we”, it means:
UNLOOKNanded, Maharashtra, IndiaEmail: hello@unlook.inWebsite: unlook.inWhat this policy covers
- This website, unlook.in, including the demo you can build here.
- The UNLOOK chat, on this website and on our customers’ websites.
- Phone calls that UNLOOK answers, for UNLOOK itself and for the businesses that use its phone answering.
- The UNLOOK dashboard our customers log in to, at app.unlook.in.
What we collect
When you ask for a demo: your name, your business’s name and type, its website address, your email, and, if you give them, a phone number and a note. To build the demo we read up to 8 public pages of the website you give us.
When you chat with UNLOOK, here or on a business’s website: your messages, and any name, phone number or email you choose to type. Your browser keeps a random chat ID (in local storage) so the conversation carries on if you reload the page.
When you call a business that uses UNLOOK to answer its phone: an AI assistant answers, and at the start of the call it tells you it’s an AI assistant and that the call is transcribed. We keep your phone number, the number you called (and the business’s own number it was forwarded from, if your phone company passes it on), when the call started and how long it lasted, a written transcript of what you and the assistant said, and the message it saves for the business: what you need, and your name, a number to call you back on, an address or a time that suits you, if you give them. We don’t keep a recording of the sound of the call.
When you book an appointment with a business that uses UNLOOK: your name, the email or phone number you give, the service and the time. The business sees it in its dashboard, and you get a private link to change or cancel it.
When a business asks where the job is and sends you a link: the place you share from your phone (its position on the map, and how exact your phone said it was), or the address you type, and when you shared it. Only that business sees it.
When you buy: your name, email, phone number and business details. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record: card and bank details go straight to them, and we never see or store them. We keep the subscription and payment references Dodo Payments gives us.
When you use the dashboard: your login email, your password stored only as a secure hash (nobody can read it, including us), and a cookie that keeps you logged in.
Technical information: IP addresses, used to stop abuse (for example, too many requests), and the ordinary logs our hosting providers keep.
We don’t use advertising trackers or analytics tools on this website.
How we use it
- To build your demo and run the service you pay for.
- To answer your questions in the chat.
- To send a business the enquiries its visitors leave (that is what the service is for).
- To send account emails: login links, set-up steps, billing notices and alerts.
- To take payments and keep the records the law requires.
- To keep the service safe and working, and to improve its answers.
We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Chats on our customers’ websites
When you chat with UNLOOK on a business’s website, that business decides what the chat says and receives what you tell it, including your contact details and the conversation. We store and process it on the business’s behalf. To see, correct or delete it, ask the business, or email us and we’ll help.
Calls to our customers
When you call a business that uses UNLOOK, that business receives the message the assistant saves and the transcript of the call. We store and process them on the business’s behalf. If a call ends before a message is saved, the transcript is read once more after the call to write the message for the business.
If you report a danger such as a gas smell, a carbon monoxide alarm, a fire or flooding, the assistant tells you what to do and the business is alerted straight away, by email and, if it has set this up, by an automated phone call that says what you reported. To see, correct or delete what you said, ask the business, or email us and we’ll help.
Sharing where the job is
A business that comes to its customers can text you a private link from its own phone, asking where the job is. On that page you choose to share where you are, or type the address. Your phone asks your permission before it shares a location, and nothing is shared unless you press Send. The place is shown on a Google map so you can check it, and it goes only to the business that sent the link, with directions to it. The link works for 7 days. Google receives the position shown on its map and this website’s address, never the private part of the link. To see, correct or delete what you shared, ask the business, or email us and we’ll help.
Google Calendar
A business can connect its Google Calendar to UNLOOK from the dashboard. It’s optional, and nothing is read from Google until the business chooses to connect. Google then asks the business to allow three things, and this is all we use them for:
- See when you’re busy. We read the start and end times of the events in your calendar, so visitors are never offered a time you’re busy. We don’t read their titles, descriptions, locations or guests.
- See the list of your calendars. So you can choose which of your own calendars your bookings go into.
- Add, change and delete events in calendars you own. Only to put UNLOOK bookings in your calendar, move them when a booking moves and remove them when it’s cancelled. We also check the events UNLOOK made, so if you move or delete one in Google, UNLOOK asks you before anyone is told.
What goes into your calendar: the service, the customer’s name and the time. Never the customer’s email or phone number.
What we keep: the access Google gives us (encrypted, and never shown to anyone), your Google account’s email, the name of the calendar you chose, and the ID of each event UNLOOK created. Busy times are held in memory for a few minutes, not saved.
What we never do: we don’t sell Google data, use it for advertising, share it with anyone else, or use it to train AI models, and no person at UNLOOK reads it unless you ask us to help with a problem, or the law or security requires it.
Disconnecting: press Disconnect in Settings → Online booking. We remove our access at Google and delete what we kept. The events already in your calendar stay, because they’re yours. You can also remove UNLOOK’s access at any time from your Google account, at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
UNLOOK’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who helps us run it
These providers process information for us, only to run the service:
- Railway hosts the UNLOOK service and its database, in the United States.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- OpenAI writes the chat’s answers and reads a business’s website to set up its chat. In the dashboard, it writes the short catch-up on a customer from their chats and calls, and answers the business’s questions about using UNLOOK. For businesses that use phone answering, it also answers the calls and writes down what is said. It doesn’t use this data to train its models.
- TypeSafe Jev sorts and checks messages, for example spotting an urgent request.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Dodo Payments is our merchant of record: it takes payments, adds any sales tax or VAT, and sends your invoices.
- Twilio sends text-message alerts, for customers who turn them on.
- Telnyx carries the phone calls UNLOOK answers, and places the alert calls to a business.
- Google shows the map when you share where a job is, and on a business’s list of the areas it covers (Google Maps). When a business picks a Google font for its chat, or for its page asking where the job is, your browser loads that font from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address. Our own emails, and the list of fonts in our dashboard, also load fonts from Google Fonts when they’re opened. See Google’s privacy policy.
We also share information when the law requires it.
Where it’s stored
UNLOOK is based in India, and the service runs on servers in the United States. By using UNLOOK, you understand your information is processed in both countries.
How long we keep it
- Demos built on this website, and the requests behind them, are deleted after 14 days. A copy of each request is also emailed to us, so we can reply to you; that email stays in our inbox after the demo is deleted, and we delete it when you ask.
- A customer’s conversations, phone calls (their details and transcripts) and leads are kept while their account is open, so they can see them in the dashboard. We delete them when the customer asks, and within 90 days after the account closes.
- A link asking where the job is stops working after 7 days. The place you share is kept with the job while the business’s account is open; we delete it when the business deletes that customer or asks us to, and within 90 days after the account closes.
- Login links stop working after 1 hour (7 days for the first one).
- Google Calendar access is deleted as soon as the business disconnects it, and within 90 days after its account closes.
- Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@unlook.in and we’ll reply within 30 days. You don’t have to give your phone number or email to chat, or your name on a call. If you do, you can ask for them to be deleted later.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels over HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Each business’s chat works only on its own website, and no keys or passwords are ever inside the chat.
Children
UNLOOK is for businesses and their customers. It isn’t meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change matters to our customers, we’ll email them first.
